  1. I know this is pedantic, but there is a driver in the car at the end so where does the other guy come from?

One hears a car door but it doesn't all stack up.*

*Just keeping your feet on the ground, p.

  2. I think the M5 is a 4-door, car, M? With seating for 5?

Also, I suspect it is a teeny bit made-up...

  4. I shall explain. I think you'd better sit down, FT. It may shock you, the terrible suggestion made by BMW. I hope you are incorruptible, for only those with the sternest disposition can partake of this knowledge without being ruined by it. No liability is accepted; if you choose to read on, you do so at your own risk.

BMW have suggested, by way of this advert, that...

I can hardly bring myself to say it. I shall try again.

BMW have suggested, by way of this advert, that their car...

(Be strong, Mr P. You can say it..)

BMW have suggested, by way of this advert, that their car is able to go quickly.

This is not permitted under the UK code of advertising conduct. Cars must not be advertised as being able to reach high speeds, else people might be tempted to, err, drive them at high speeds.

    And no, I'm not joking.

  5. O.K. Thanks. I can see, though not agree, with the way they "think".

it is between 15 and 20 years since I was last in the U.K. How a country can change in that time is bloody astounding. Only helped by viewing it fom the outside, I suspect.

From the inside you do not notice the slow drip of this kind of attitude. Where as from outside, we tend to get, as your blog here does, a bloody great splash all at once.
